MelloFast guide
Android v1.0.0 · 29 October 2026 · Preparing for launch
This guide covers MelloFast Android v1.0.0, checked against source and the AAB, with captures from an isolated test device. Screens use synthetic data. Available features can differ with safety mode, language and device permissions.
MelloFast provides general information. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure or prevent a medical condition. Fasting features are intended for adults aged 18 and over. Consult a qualified healthcare professional before fasting, especially if you have a condition or take medication. Stop fasting if you feel unwell and seek appropriate help.

1. App and navigation
- The main tabs are Timer, Track and Progress. Progress contains statistics and history.
- The book icon on Timer opens Learn, and the gear opens Settings. No account is required.
2. First launch and screening
- The app follows a supported device language, with a language option in onboarding and Settings.
- Read the introduction, answer screening honestly, optionally skip the body profile, and acknowledge the notice after reading it.
- Notifications are optional. Screening does not establish that fasting is safe for you.
3. Start, edit and finish
- Choose an available plan on Timer and tap Start, or backdate a start you forgot to record.
- Tap the start time to edit its date/time; it cannot be in the future. Progress and goal time are recomputed.
- Tap End and confirm to save the session. Review the recap and eating window. You can finish before your goal.

4. Plans and limits
- Tap the ratio chip to see available plans, including custom hours where the mode permits them.
- Light mode limits plans to 14 hours. Longer plans have additional notices. Do not choose a plan to chase a number or an achievement.

5. Safety modes and feeling unwell
- Screening can enable Light, numbers-hidden, Wellbeing or restricted nutrition calculations. Some modes do not offer a fasting start action.
- If unwell, open the helper below End fast and choose to stop. It does not diagnose symptoms. For an emergency, use local emergency services rather than waiting for the app.

6. Hunger helper
- Open the hunger helper from Timer for general information or optional guided breathing.
- You may pause or end a fast. The helper does not assess whether you should continue fasting.

7. Water log
- Open Track → Water and use a quantity shortcut or enter a custom amount.
- Review today’s total, the seven-day chart and entries below. The displayed goal is not a medical prescription.

8. Weight log
- Open Track → Weight, use the units chosen in Settings, and complete the displayed fields.
- Review trends based on your entries. Safety or numbers-hidden modes may change what is displayed.

9. Mood and hunger
- Open Track → Mood, choose the displayed levels that describe how you feel, optionally add a note, and save.
- Notes may contain sensitive information. They do not replace reporting symptoms to a healthcare professional.

10. Meal log
- Open Track → Meals and select a meal type and the details requested by the form.
- A shortcut after finishing a fast lets you log a first meal. Calorie counting is not required to use the meal log.

11. Progress and history
- Open Progress for counts, hours and available chart ranges, calculated from your local records.
- Open History for calendar/list views, tap entries to edit, or add a past session when needed.
- Editing or deleting entries changes statistics. You do not need to fast longer to maintain a streak.

12. Profile and estimates
- Open Settings → Profile & goals. Completing a profile is optional.
- Birth year, sex, height, weight and activity inputs support general on-device estimates, not measurements of your actual metabolism.
- Targets depend on safety settings. Do not use estimates as an individual treatment plan.

13. Schedules, rest and programme
- Use the eating schedule, rest-day and free-eating-day options offered in Settings. Reminders depend on your choices and permissions.
- The four-week programme card is available from Timer when not fasting. It is optional, is not treatment, and does not require you to increase fasting hours.
- Take a break when your routine changes. Do not change screening answers to bypass limits.
14. Notifications and background display
- Choose the reminder types you want in Settings, including the optional ongoing timer display.
- Use Notification check to review permission and try a test. Also check Android channels, Do Not Disturb and battery restrictions.
- The system can delay or stop reminders after force-stop. Dismissal depends on Android; neither permanent visibility nor exact timing is guaranteed.

15. Android widget
- Long-press an empty area of the Android home screen, open Widgets, and find MelloFast.
- Place the widget to see status and open the app. Consider what others can see on your screen; placement depends on the launcher.
16. Backup, export and restore
- In Settings → Data, choose a .mfbackup, CSV or PDF export and select a destination in the share sheet.
- The app does not encrypt these files. Keep them in storage you control; a checksum does not hide their contents.
- The app tells Android not to back up or transfer its data automatically. Before changing phones or reinstalling, create a .mfbackup, then restore it on the new device.
- Restore validates a file you select and replaces local data after confirmation. Close and reopen the app after success.
- PDF fonts cover Thai/Latin; other languages may export in English. A report is not a diagnosis.

17. Language, theme, units and feedback
- Open the gear to choose a language or follow the device, and use System, Light or Dark theme.
- Choose units, sounds and haptics as preferred. UI haptics and Android notification sound settings are separate.

18. Learning and sources
- Open the book icon on Timer or Learn in Settings, and read the explanations with their sources.
- Hour-based cards are general information. They do not measure glucose, ketones or what is happening in your body.

19. Troubleshooting and contact
- For missing reminders, use Notification check and Android settings. Do not use the app as an emergency alarm.
- For lost records, check any .mfbackup or export files you saved before clearing storage. Do not expect Android Backup to restore this app’s data, because the app tells Android not to back it up; the developer has no recovery copy on a server either.
- Email the company with the version, device, language, steps and time. Redact screenshots and do not send a database, backup or password by default.
20. Privacy and deletion
- Primary records are processed locally. The app does not request the INTERNET permission and tells Android not to include its data in backup or device transfer, but files you choose to export or share go wherever you send them.
- Uninstalling or clearing app storage deletes the local data; it does not delete copies you exported or shared, and reinstalling does not bring the data back automatically. Create a .mfbackup first if you want to keep it.
- Settings → Privacy opens the full policy in your browser, using your own connection; the app itself stays offline. Contact software support for app questions. Seek an appropriate professional for health advice.
